The purpose of this case study is to clarify what students say they experienced in their reflections on project-based service learning, and whether the opportunity for these reflections on their experience encourages deepening of their learning. The results of an analysis of students' reflections indicate that they focus on relations with others including professors, team members or local residents, rather than the knowledge or competence they obtained. Moreover, the results show that they had objective insights in improving activity design, in particular, their experience of conflict was one moment of deeper learning. The purpose of this case study is to clarify what students say they experienced in their reflections on project-based service learning, and whether the opportunity for these reflections on their experience encourages deepening of their learning.
